Glitz and Glamour at Hazeldene Hall

Sunday, 8 February 2009

You’ve asked for it: here it is!! More blogging !!

Lisa and Sean’s wedding was “the glitzy wedding of the year” in my books. Hosted by Edith Venter, it could only be good. And the couple are such genuinely friendly and happy people. Lisa’s bubbly personality sparkled the whole day, and Sean was just beaming.

What’s more: the decor was impecable, the 200-odd guests were glamorous, and the cake was OTT designer chic. <No pics of the cake here, but I’ll tantalise your imagination with hints of chandelier and fur>

We were challenged (from the moment the ceremony ended until the late hours of the night) with rain varying from a mild drizzle to torrential downpour! The prayer for overcast skies is common amongst photographers, but this was going a bit too far. Nonetheless, inbetween bouts of drizzle and fading light, we managed to capture some winners.

It starts with a fridge

My first blog ever!! With heaps of thanks to Andrea Carlyle who, after bugging me incessantly for months, helped me set it up at some unearthly hour in the middle of nowhere after second shooting with her at another gorgeous wedding 🙂

The dilemma was where to start?! Do I go back in history and start publishing from the beginning? Or do I start now, and then back fill as I go along? I’ve opted for the latter. So these are from Lebeko and Joel’s wedding held at Shepstone Gardens a week or so ago.

The whole day was a wonderful experience for me: starting with a trip into Soweto in the wee hours of the morning. And, no, I didn’t feel unsafe. In fact, I felt safer than in Jo’burg! And I especially felt most welcomed by Lebeko and her family.

Shepstone Gardens is a photographers dream! You gotta see it to believe it! Starting with the glass roofed chapel. Even better, we were blessed with an overcast day. And, the best for me: I LOVE that fridge! (think I’ll be borrowing it for some more of my shoots, Ken)

Lebeko and Joel were a real pleasure to photograph. The gorgeous bride was such a natural in front of the camera: L, are you sure you weren’t a model in your previous life?
